The most critical time for any new senior executive is the first 90 days. During this time it is important that the new hire familiarises themselves with the ethos of the company, gets to know the management team, makes changes, develops future strategy, and listens. It can be a very lonely role. It can also be a very expensive role for the company if it doesn't work. The cost of failure includes recruitment expenses, loss of business, low company morale and starting the search all over again.
